A month in EGabriel Bootcamp

Learn Dotnet Development

Looking at the calendar, I now realize that almost one month has passed since I started the EGabriel Bootcamp, how time flies by it's crazy. And I must say that my experience has been amazing because I get to learn new things in every bit of task I carry out, If I should plot the graph of my experience so far it'd undoubtedly yield a positive graph.

MY DRIVE AND MOTIVATION

Avi Flombaum, co-founder of Flatiron has a favorite that I'm paraphrasing: "The natural state of code is broken - if all code worked flawlessly all the time there would be no need for programmers." That's to say, coding is often frustrating, even more so when you're learning it for the first time. Imagine you stepped into your first Spanish class ever and the instructor said: "Welcome! Here's a Spanish-English dictionary. Please write a short essay on the combustible engine." You'd have a tool (dictionary) that conceivably has everything you'd need to write the essay (all the words), but you'd be missing a lot of the logical patterns essential for essay writing (grammar). Try to be the kind of person who is going to spend some time looking through that dictionary’s example sentences and piecing things together for your essay anyway. Much of programming is just reading documentation and trying to familiarize yourself with new concepts. Be comfortable failing constantly, making mistakes, and asking questions. But also have the grit to push toward a deeper understanding of programming.

This is the main reason why I chose EGabriel boot camp. I knew I wouldn't have the drive to do it on my own. And this boot camp provides the structure to help me learn at an accelerated pace and invaluable resources to help answer my copious questions and improve my determination.

MY APTITUDE AND RESOLUTION IN THE BOOTCAMP

I realized from another experienced software developer that I don't have to be a diamond-in-the-rough computer savant before I walk in the door. Contrary to popular belief, I don't need a knack for math either. However, during this period of one month, all I need is some natural aptitude for logic, organization, and abstract thinking.

This can be hard to archive it alone. But am not alone that is why in the EGabriel boot camp there is a community of learners like myself, who are passionate about the .Net development. My collaboration skill has improved significantly within these few days. I’ve learned that joining forces together yield enormous result far greater than what I can achieve working alone. I’ve equally learned that no one knows it all, everyone in a team is very important and should be equally respected. All thanks to Git and Github.

WRITING CLEAN CODE

Before now, my major concern was to write code that does the job 😭, anything more was not important. But the story is not the same in the course of the Bootcamp, there’s a standard I must follow. I’ve equally learned that the way my code is organized speaks volumes about who I am as a developer. I got introduced to interesting tools that make life easier in ensuring the codes follow a given standard.

CONCLUSION

As I said earlier, my experience so far is not limited to the above-mentioned points, they are many! In one word, I can only describe my experience so far as awesome! Am not saying that am an expert or pro because there is a lot of work and improvement that I still need to do.
